Have you heard of Google Ads Video Builder? If not, we'll show you why this tool, still underused by advertisers, is set to become an essential part of your digital strategy, both to gain visibility and to help you improve your performance.

What is Google Ads Video Builder?

Formerly known as YouTube Video Builder, Google Ads Video Builder is a free tool made available by Google for Google Ads users. As an advertiser, brand, or service provider, you can create a personalized video in just a few clicks, without needing a video editing expert on hand.

Whether you have a large team or you're a small business, Google Ads Video Builder can be very useful on several levels:

  • If you don't have anyone on your team specialized in content, you can use ready-to-deploy video templates. All you need to do is insert the images you want to highlight and update the different text fields.

  • If you need to save time while creating an effective, high-performing video, Video Builder has you covered. Discover its customization options: import your own content and configure your video in just a few clicks.

  • If you're looking for inspiration, Google Ads Video Builder offers a large library of video and audio content that is sure to spark ideas.

How do I create my first video with Google Ads Video Builder?

Step 1: Go to your Google Ads account

Go to your Google Ads account, access the settings in your top-right navigation bar, and click on "Tools and Settings."

Once there, navigate to the "Shared Library" column and click on the "Asset Library" tab. This page gives you access to all shared image and video assets in your Google Ads account.

Step 2: Set up your video

Once on the "Asset Library" page, simply click the "+" button in the top-left corner of the page and select the "Create a video" tab.

Step 3: Choose your template based on your goal

You will then be able to choose from a full selection of video templates based on a specific goal (introducing your brand, sharing a promotion, showcasing a product, etc.).

In our example, we'll use the "Introduce your brand" template.

Step 4: Build your video in just a few minutes

After choosing your template, you will have access to the video customization section. You will find several categories:

  • Brand colors to personalize the video with your own palette
  • A logo upload to display your brand in the video
  • Images to bring your video to life
  • Text overlays to highlight key information in your video

You will also be able to preview your content using the "Storyboard" tab at the bottom of the page, which is very handy for testing your copy and/or your images. Once you're satisfied, simply move on to the next step.



Step 5: Publish your video online on YouTube

Once you are ready and happy with how your video looks, you can publish it online to your own YouTube channel. You can then promote your video by running, for example, a YouTube campaign on Google Ads.
